Tango Course: From Improvisation to Instant Composition

In this course, we aim to focus on and highlight a fundamental characteristic that gave rise to the dance of tango: improvisation.

Furthermore, our research will introduce the concept of instant composition, where the sensitive quality previously experienced will be developed dynamically, with the partner and the group, directing attention to the relationship with space, time, and the vibrations of the music.

We will explore the complexity of the body in motion, in its physical, psychological, imaginative, and emotional aspects. Attention will be given to how these aspects relate to the expressiveness of the danced gesture.

Becoming aware of these processes allows the individual to experience a full and vital way of dancing.

Thus, we aim to stimulate the intuitive aspect of dancing tango, playing it to the rhythm of your own steps.

It is not the memory of steps that makes the dance, but the symbiosis between the body and the music. In order to experience the sense of vitality and originality that makes every dance a unique moment, one must create a connection between the body and the vibrations that flow through it, so as not to find oneself repeating steps without feeling like the protagonist of one’s own performance. To venture into the poetic language of Tango dance, it is necessary to integrate the memory aspect with the here and now of dance. This is the goal of the work we propose in the seminar.
